In August 2006 a small party from
Bishop Nathan and his wife, Peace
On our return to Dore it was agreed that we would like to build on this experience and create a closer bond with the diocese by giving financial and prayer support to two projects. We also hope to keep in regular correspondence with the projects to learn of their progress. Bishop Nathan proposed the Canon Njangali Girls’ Secondary School and the Azur Christian Clinic.
Canon Njangali S.S.
Headmaster: Esau Muhumuza (mesaukam@yahoo.com)
No. of students : approx. 90 (2007) : 120 (2008)
ie. 30 in each grade 1-4
School mission statement : “We stand for Academic Excellence, Good Discipline and High Moral Standards”
The school accepts girls who have completed seven years at primary school and passed the primary certificate. At Canon Njangali they study for 4 years for the National Certificate of Education, 6 years for Advanced level which qualifies them for college or university. Since the school, situated in Hoima town, has the diocese as its catchment area, many girls board.
To date our gifts have helped towards paying staff and with the current building programme of three classrooms. These additional rooms will give space for senior class 4 (the first group of girls to enter the National exams in 2008), a book store and a general science room. There is a need for trained science teachers.

Both classes (2006) in same large classroom greet us, speak with us and give the welcome song, accompanied by drums.)

Centre manager : Albert Kisembo (albert20042001@yahoo.co.uk)
The health centre has a doctor’s surgery, a pharmacy, a laboratory and a 3-bed hospital ward where patients (particularly those with malaria) can stay for 24 hours’ observation. Dr. Ronald runs an immunisation programme for babies. There is access to family planning and AIDS education and treatment, plus HIV testing. Our gifts have helped with the completion of a maternity ward which was officially opened on 25th September, 2007. There is a need for surgical training.
