World Mission Taskforce Terms of Reference - Christ Church

World Mission Taskforce Terms of Reference

Establishment

1.    In order to provide focus and to take forward support of world mission within Christ Church Dore, the PCC has established a World Mission Taskforce.  In all its work the Taskforce shall recognise that mission is about, “The whole Church taking the whole Gospel to the whole world” and thus shall reflect the diverse nature of World Mission in terms of geographies and types of work.

2.    The membership of the Taskforce will be established by the PCC from time to time.  Following the PCC meeting in April 2009 the current membership of the Taskforce is:

Member  since
Jackie Butcher         2001
Alyson Evans   2006
Linda Hunter 2003
Gillian Moore 2005
Robert Rattee   (Leader)  2001
Pamela Sandford   2006

The Taskforce may co-opt individuals from time to time to provide specific skills and assistance in the carrying out of its work.

Responsibilities

3.    In general terms, the World Mission Taskforce is responsible for raising the profile of World Mission within Dore church.  (Whilst recognising there is no distinction in the Bible, World Mission is here understood to encapsulate all our involvement in Gospel work and proclamation happening outside Sheffield, S17).  This will be achieved by:

4.    Regular communication and prayer on World Mission issues as part of the on-going life of the church as well as by arranging, in partnership with the Vicar, one-off events.

5.    Advising the PCC on all matters relating to World Mission and the church’s involvement therein including, but not limited to:

  • Which mission agencies and individuals the church should support
  • How that support should be provided
  • The level and form of giving to mission agencies and individuals

6.    Manage the relationship between the Church and the mission agencies/individuals we support.

7.    Assisting individuals, through the provision of information and prayer, to explore their own call to World Mission work and supporting the staff in the assessment of such “calls”.

Accountabilities

8.    The Taskforce is accountable to the PCC and shall report back to the PCC regularly on its work.

9.    The Taskforce shall be able to spend what sums, as agreed with the Vicar and PCC, that it needs to undertake the administration of its responsibilities.
