Welcome to Christ Church, Dore

Christ Church is the Anglican (Church of England)
parish church in Dore, within the Diocese of Sheffield
and in a Mission Partnership with All Saints Totley.

We seek to be:
a welcoming community of worshippers
who want to be more like Jesus
and lead more people to meet Jesus,
of all ages and background

We are led by Revd Katie Tupling (Vicar),
with Revd Ali Creasey (Associate Minister, responsible for Totley All Saints),
and Revd Neil Marchant (Curate),
as well as Ministry led by Revd Di Williams (retired),
and a Lay Leadership Team.

The church building is usually open during daylight hours.

Worship - our usual pattern:

8:30am bcp Holy Communion, said service. 1st and 3rd Sundays
10am worship, all ages together, Baptisms held on the 3rd Sunday
5:30pm, Evening Prayer alternating with Communion, every Sunday

10:30am said Communion every Thursday, in the Choir stalls

Watch out for:

Sunday 2nd December, 10am all ages worshipping together! It's our Christingle service, celebrating Jesus, the light of the world.  We'll be taking a collection of financial gifts to support our Mission Partners (if you can give, please do).  Afterwards, our young people will be selling homemade gingerbread and biscuits, with proceeds going to support a young girl through 'Compassion'.

Sunday 16th December, 6pm - a service of Lessons and Carols, celebrating Jesus through music and readings. All ages are very welcome.  We will use subdued lighting and some candlelight.

Monday 24th December - 4pm and again at 6pm
Crib services - for all ages and stages!
Celebrating Jesus through drama and songs.
Everyone is encouraged to come dressed up -
as a Nativity character, in a fabulous Christmas jumper/socks etc. or with a dash of tinsel :-)

Monday 24th December - 11:30pm Holy Communion
Celebrating Jesus through Word and symbol

Tuesday 25th December - Christmas Day!
10am service, all ages all together, with the chance to 'show and tell' - if you have already opened your presents, why not bring one to show everyone else.
There will be a short communion after the initial time of celebration.

In other news:

Church Hall
the Parochial Church Council are considering their part in the future of the Church Hall,
and are open to the wider community and businesses for any approaches that might be made.
The PCC will continue in dialogue with those who have already proposed a business idea,
and will be guided by Charity Law and the Sheffield Diocese.
Further discussions will take place in the new year.

Final service for Revd Katie Tupling
On Sunday 14th October, Katie our Vicar announced that the Bishop had accepted her resignation as Vicar of Dore and Totley.  This decision had come after months of prayer and reflection.
Katie's final Sunday will be 6th January, 10:30am at Christ Church Dore, with refreshments after.
The family will remain in the Vicarage for a time, as they are considering the future.
All correspondence from the new year should be directed to and through the Church Office.

Redevelopment News

Our plans for the redevelopment of the building have been through
a consultation process with Heritage Agencies and City Planners.
We have taken on board feedback from them, the local community and church members.
The Church Council has unanimously voted for and endorsed the plans,
and are now applying for a Faculty (permission for the building work to go ahead)

Our Architect is John Cunnington, of Walker Cunnington Architects -
you can find out more by clicking on this link:

Members of the Redevelopment Team meet regularly with John to shape the Plans in the light of feedback and advice from the Heritage Agencies, and the Diocesan Advisory Committee.

Pledges of financial support continue to build up
- thank you to all who have given to this project
