Welcome to Christ Church, Dore

Christ Church remembered and celebrated the life of the Reverend Neil Marchant on 30th June at a service in church. Thank you to all who came from afar and those from the church and village. Many spoke warmly of their memories and he was a very special man.

Christ Church is the Anglican (Church of England) parish church in Dore, within the Diocese of Sheffield and in a Mission Partnership with All Saints

We seek to be:
a welcoming community of worshippers
who want to be more like Jesus
and lead more people to meet Jesus,
of all ages and background.

Therefore the whole of Christ Church is committed to high standards in the safeguarding and care of children, young people and vulnerable adults.

We are led by:

Church Wardens Richard Knights and Alison Saxton,
Ministry led by Revd Di Williams (retired),
and a Lay Leadership Team.

And our Church Safeguarding Officer is Dr Yvonne Twelvetree

Church Hall

The Parish Church Council (PCC) met on 12th February to review comments, questions and suggestions which were received, both verbally and in written form, at the recent open meeting. They are very grateful for the level of interest in the future of the hall.
The PCC reiterates that they wish to retain the hall for community use.
A working group has been formed which will further evaluate different models of maintaining and developing the hall, and will report back to the PCC by the end of March. Following that we will communicate again, both with those individuals and groups who have expressed interest in the running of the hall, and with the community as a whole. 16th February 2019

Following the departure of our Vicar, Katie in January 2019, we are now in a Vacancy.
All Church correspondence should be directed to and through the Church Office.

Redevelopment News
Our plans for the redevelopment of the building have been through a consultation process with Heritage Agencies and City Planners.
We have taken on board feedback from them, the local community and church members. The Church Council has unanimously voted for and endorsed the plans, and are now applying for a Faculty (permission for the building work to go ahead)

Our Architect is John Cunnington, of Walker Cunnington Architects

Members of the Building Development Group meet regularly with John to shape the Plans in the light of feedback and advice from the Heritage Agencies, and the Diocesan Advisory Committee.
Watch this space- there will be more news about this project in October.......
Pledges of financial support continue to build up - thank you to all who have given to this project.

Church Walks are now up and running (walking?)

David and Hazel have started the Christ Church walks and you are very welcome to join one or more. Dogs on leads are welcome on all walks. The programme is as follows:
Saturday 19th October a walk of about 7 miles and 4 hours, hopefully see some wild deer. An initial short but steep climb from the car park on to Totley Moor, across Totley Moss via the triangulation point, then cross Bar Brook and on to White Edge Moor via Lady's Cross. Head towards the Grouse Inn and into the Longshaw Estate and the visitors' centre. Up to Stoney Ridge Road and back across Stoney Moss via the air shaft, before descending to the cars. Bring a picnic. Depart from Church at 9.30am and park in Strawberry Lee Lane car park.
